FSA to regulate 'flash selling of homes'
It's about time legislation was introduced to control this area as many families have sold their homes on the understanding that they will remain in the home, albeit as a tenant, only to find they have a short tenancy agreement and end up being evicted some 6 - 12 months later.
My other concern is that some of the firms that made these purchases could themselves be in trouble and should they go bust then the tenant, the previous owner, will be evicted.
Of course, not all of the industry works in this way, but this new regulation will bring some transparency and integrity to these schemes and should curb those who have previously preyed on the vulnerable and desperate. More on this news item here
UK debt numbers for May 2009
These make grim reading as they don't improve month by month. Some of the statistics will get worse with the unemployment rising, only consolidation is that the average household debt is less today compared to January 2008. See UK debt numbers here
Interest rates remain static three months in a row
Will need to get a look at the minutes of the MPC meeting, due 17 June, to see who voted for what, that way we can get an idea which way the rate may go at the next meeting on 8 & 9 July 2009.
Is the government about to go above the 125 billion they said they would spend on Quantitative easing?
