150.36 Clive opens the show commenting on how consumers are put under pressure to overspend at Christmas. Mike then warns of the dangers of just making minimum payments on credit cards and gives an example of how a £1,000 credit card spend at Christmas can result in the card holder paying back a massive £3,500.

Clive then asks Mike what type of problems and debt can he help with in this Consumer Hour. Mike then goes through the key triggers of what tips people into unmanageable debt.

161.35 Call 1 Herah from Ilford was looking for information on his £6,000 - £8,000 of his credit card, bank overdraft and payday loan debts.

176.00 Call 2 Tony in Guilford has £40,000 on credit cards and wanted to know his options, bankruptcy, debt management plan or an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA)?

181.18 Call 3 Hassan in Camberwell said he was has store card, credit card and overdraft debt of around £9,000 and was looking for ways of reducing this debt.

183.60 Call 4 Mary in East Dulwich was looking for information for her son who is homeless, has mental health issues and owes money to an energy company. Mary said she has told the energy co that her son has never resided with her but they are ignoring her and sending threatening letters to say bailiffs will be instructed. (Mike has since spoken off air with Mary and emailed her a letter to send to the Energy company to stop the bullying threatening letters)

187.29 Call 5 Rafi in Birmingham was looking for information on his £12,000 - £13,000 of debt after he borrowed money to pay off parking fines, he now has county court judgements and earning limited income as he is self employed. He is 21 years old and resides at home with his parents but has previously committed himself to a further 36 months with hire purchase on a car, paying £230 per month.

193.30 Text from David, 'I'm £60,000 in debt being managed in an IVA but the amount I'm paying has been altered recently due to a new salary, is this fair?'
