Is Marlin Financial Services fit to hold a Consumer Credit licence?
 Some of you who watched the 'Dispatches' programme on Channel 4 on Monday evening may well ask that question.
The documentary focused on Marlin Financial Services and the way they handle the recovery of debts which they have purchased from banks and other high street businesses.
This is a multi-million pound industry with many such firms involved in recovering debts from the public. Their activities are controlled by the Office of Fair Trading and there are strict rules governing the way debt recovery agencies work.

Spare a thought for the unemployed
There is real concern about how these individuals will motivate themselves into getting back to work.
Unfortunately some will drop into depression or turn to alcohol, gambling or even crime in an attempt to solve their debt problems.

Urgent - Tax credit renewal date expires 31st July 2009
If you want to renew your claim for tax credits you will need to do so before 31 July.
If you don't, you'll only receive payments for a limited period after the end of the tax year. You'll also have to pay back these payments.

Egg cracks on with monthly credit card charges
Egg is the first credit card company for over a decade to charge a monthly fee for use of its mass-market credit card.
This could just be the start of something quite big with all the other credit card providers quickly following suit.

HSBC fined 3 million for losing personal data
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has fined three HSBC firms over £3 million for not having adequate systems and controls in place to protect their customers' confidential details from being lost or stolen.
Debtwizard feels the fines are relatively low when taking into account the overall turnover of these firms; perhaps a criminal prosecution may be the way forward to make these firms sit up and take note.
